Visitors from Hukarere and Te Aute College

This week we have been lucky enough to have both Hukarere and Te Aute Colleges visit Huia Range School. I especially enjoyed seeing Iritana Edwards an ex pupil of Huia Range. Hukarere performed waiata for us. Te Aute College boys performed both waiata and their haka. The children enjoyed these visits.

Cross Country Success

On Monday May 21st Tuakana Syndicate competed in Huia Range School's annual cross country. Room 6 ran in the junior girls and junior boys races.  It was a fine day but the ground was quite muddy in places making some parts of the track tricky to cross. The results were Riley Room 9 1st, Breanna 2nd, Kezia 3rd, Katie 4th, Brittney 5th. In the boys race 1st Carlos Room 9, 2nd Tama, 3rd was Elijah Room 5 and Jared was 6th.  

Fun Run

Sunday May 14th was the fun run. Brittney, Kohana, Breanna, Katie and Martin from Room 6 all participated. Well done to all participants and those who encouraged others to have a go.

Fire Station visit.

Today Room 6 got to visit the fire station. We got to look at the firefighters clothing, the equipment carried in the trucks and had a turn squirting the hose.

She showed us some things that were damaged in a burning building

We are studying shape

2D and 3D Shapes

Shapes are everywhere in the real world, many structures both natural and man-made comprise sets of 2D and 3D shapes. Take a look around and recognise how many cuboids, spheres, pyramids, prisms there are in the objects you see, touch and use everyday.
